Kirton McConkie lawyers Orton and Richards successfully prosecute criminal contempt charge
Kirton McConkie lawyers R. Willis Orton and Shawn T. Richards successfully prosecuted a criminal contempt proceeding against their client’s civil lawsuit opponent. After an evidentiary hearing and oral argument, Third District Judge Randall Skanchy found the Kirton McConkie client’s opponent to have intentionally violated various court orders 389 times, by funneling over $500,000 in cash through an account which the Court had previously ordered frozen; monies which could have been used to pay the client’s judgment. Judge Skanchy imposed the mandatory statutory sentence for criminal contempt, including ordering the defendant to serve 30 days in the Salt Lake County jail.
