Overview
Julie Gheem is a member of the firm's Intellectual Property section. She focuses on intellectual property law, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, domain names and internet-based intellectual property violations, trade secrets, unfair competition law, and licensing. Having earned the fundamental equivalent of a physics degree while in law school, Ms. Gheem has a strong technological background in both mechanical and soft electrical engineering technologies. She also has an extensive understanding of computer software through her experience as an independent contractor designing customized software.
Experience
- Combined literary and technological background has proved helpful in preparing and prosecuting numerous patent applications in the fields of mechanical, software, and electronics technologies.
- Experience prosecuting trademarks, providing counsel with respect to copyright issues, preparing licensing agreements, and litigating patent and trademark infringement cases.
- Played a key role in preparing substantive material regarding trademark and domain name issues for a series of nationwide forums sponsored by the well-known International Trademark Association (INTA).
